Here are the Chelsea morning headlines for Monday, August 10.
Hargreaves not convinced Havertz is right for Chelsea
Frank Lampard has already bolstered his attacking options this summer and may not be finished yet either.
With Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner having joined Chelsea, the club are also looking to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen.
However, Owen Hargreaves isn’t convinced that it would be the right move for the Blues.
Speaking on BT Sport this weekend, the former England international said: “He’s a really good player. He’s a great young player, but they have a lot of those great young players.
“I think they need some leaders in there. Havertz for £90m, you want ready-made, walks in and makes you a better team and I think the worry is they spend right now £200m on Werner, Ziyech and Havertz and they can still finish fourth or fifth.
“They want to win a title and I think Havertz is a special player but it feels like they need to sort out the keeper and the centre-backs first.”
Ampadu on loan to Norwich?
Ethan Ampadu spent the 2019/20 season on loan with RB Leipzig, but didn’t get much game time.
With just three substitute appearances in the Bundesliga – though he did start two Champions League matches – the 19-year-old needs more experience if he is to make the grade with Chelsea.
And the Press Association have reported that he may be playing in the Championship next season, with a loan move to Norwich City potentially on the cards.
The story also claims that the Blues would be happy with the move in order to help the Welsh international develop further.
Former teammate wishes Willian luck
Willian’s time at Chelsea is over, as the 32-year-old confirmed in an open letter to the club’s fans.
Posting on Instagram, the winger wrote: "The time has now come to move on. I am certainly going to miss my teammates.
"I will miss all the staff at the club who’ve always treated me like a son and I will miss the fans.”
Among the colleagues past-and-present lining up to pay tribute was Cesc Fabregas. And as Willian is being strongly linked with a move to Arsenal, the duo could have that connection soon as well.
