Chelsea morning headlines as Frank Lampard plots Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang transfer swoop

Here are the Chelsea morning headlines for Tuesday, June 2.

Blues want Arsenal’s Aubameyang

Chelsea are reportedly still hopeful of a deal for Arsenal captain and star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

ESPN report the Blues are continuing to monitor the Gabonese striker and would be tempted to make an offer should Arsenal decide to sell this summer.

Aubameyang is out of contract at the Emirates in the summer of 2021 and there has been a great deal of speculation on his future.

Arsenal could well decide to cash in on the striker this summer rather than run the risk of losing him on a free transfer, as they did with Aaron Ramsey last summer.

Chelsea fans impressed with Werner

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner netted his 25th goal of the campaign as his title-chasing side recorded a 4-2 victory at FC Koln on Monday night.

The German international has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, and while Liverpool are said to be favourites, Chelsea have also been linked.

The 24-year-old is said to have a £50million release clause that the Reds are unwilling to pay, leaving the door open for a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

With the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Olivier Giroud, Willian and Pedro all facing uncertain futures in West London, they need to rejuvenate their forward line.

As highlighted by football.london, a number of Blues fans reacted to the goal online with one claiming that Frank Lampard’s men would be ‘unstoppable’ if they could seal the deal.

And Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann delivered an update on Werfner's future after the game too.

Project Restart reaction

A survey by the Chelsea Supporters' Trust has revealed the club’s fans would rather the 2019/20 season is cancelled than restart this month.

The findings of the questions are outline 72% of the 1,114 respondents being members of the Trust and the rest coming from social media.

Two thirds - 66% - of respondents were living outside the United Kingdom, and as the findings revealed, the questions were broken down into location and regularity of matches attended.

More than 70% preferred for the season to be ended, while 20% would rather the season was ended behind closed doors and less than 10% wanting the campaign concluded at neutral venues.
