Chelsea morning headlines as Frank Lampard learns true cost of Kai Havertz transfer, Ake blow

Here are your Chelsea morning headlines for Tuesday, July 21.

Chelsea told Havertz will cost them ‘more than £90million’

Chelsea will have to splash out more than £90million if they are to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

The Sun claims the Stamford Bridge outfit are closing in on the German international, with Bayer Leverkusen now resigned to losing Havertz this summer. However, the Bundesliga club still expect a big transfer fee for the player.

Leverkusen are reportedly demanding an upfront fee of £63million, with add-ons that would take the total cost over a number of years to more than £90million.

Lampard heaps praise on Chelsea as they make the FA Cup final

Chelsea have already spent big to secure the signings of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and so a deal for Havertz at this sort of price could take their summer spending to more than £170million.

Atalanta left-back on Chelsea radar as fourth summer signing - report

Chelsea are already planning a move for what they hope will be their fourth summer signing after Havertz, with Atalanta’s Robin Gosens said to be on their radar.

Kicker claims the 26-year-old has become the Blues’ first choice target to fill the left-back position for next season, despite recent speculation linking them with Ben Chilwell and Nicolas Tagliafico.

Gosens has enjoyed a highly successful season with Atalanta, with the Serie A club reportedly demanding a transfer fee of £27million for the player.

Hertha Berlin, Inter and Juventus are also believed to be interested in Gosens, but Chelsea could move quickly for the left-back to ensure the rebuilding of their squad ahead of the new season remains on track.

Buyback clause detailed as Nathan Ake nears City transfer

Chelsea’s buyback clause on Nathan Ake has been explained as the Dutch defender reportedly nears a move to Manchester City this summer.

The Guardian claims Ake is expected to make the switch to the Etihad Stadium for a fee of £35million, with Bournemouth almost certain to be relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

It had previously been reported that Chelsea, who Ake formerly played for, held a £40million buyback option on the defender, with some confusion over whether the clause expired in January or this summer.

However, it now appears Ake will be playing for Manchester City next season, with Pep Guardiola reportedly making the signing of the Dutch centre back a priority.
