Chelsea morning headlines as Bernardeschi open to transfer and Lampard hopeful on £40m deal

Here are your Chelsea morning headlines for Sunday, May 31.

Lampard keen on Ndidi

Chelsea are on the lookout for a replacement for N’Golo Kante and they have reportedly identified his successor at Leicester City - Wilfred Ndidi.

The Leicester Mercury cite reports in Spain as saying that the Blues are hopeful on a deal for the Nigerian international, who is said to be valued at £40million.

Ndidi arrived at the Foxes from Genk in the summer of 2017 and was primarily seen as filling the void created when Kante had moved to Stamford Bridge the previous year.

Chelsea Q&A with Oliver Harbord

The central midfielder has become an increasingly prominent figure at the Midlands club and they would be keen to hold onto him at all costs.

Kante has been linked with a move away from West London this summer.

Blues ‘leading the race’ for Coutinho

Chelsea are ‘leading the race’ to sign out-of-favour playmaker Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona this summer.

That is according to a report in the Express, via the Daily Star, which outlines how the Blues are favourites for the Brazilian who could be available in a £10million loan deal.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Leicester are all said to be interested in taking on the former Liverpool star but Stamford Bridge is his most likely destination.

Regardless of whether the move is permanent, Coutinho’s next club are also going to have to cover his £250k weekly wage packet.

Bayern Munich – where Coutinho is on a season-long loan arrangement from Barcelona – are unlikely to make the player’s move permanent and a switch to the Premier League now looks likely.

Coutinho, who has 21 goals in 76 appearances for the Catalan club, could help reinvent Chelsea’s attack for next season.

Juve ace looks to Chelsea

Juventus midfielder Federico Bernardeschi is keen for more first-team playing minutes and is open to a move to the Premier League.

That is according to Gazzetta dello Sport, via a report on Caught Offside, who say that the Italian could be a summer arrival at Chelsea.

It is highlighted by the Daily Express that the Blues would hold an advantage in any pursuit over other interested clubs such as Manchester United or Arsenal with the suggestion that Jorginho may move the other way in a swap deal, to be reunited with Maurizio Sarri.
