Chelsea midfielder returns ahead of FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest

Premier League-winning midfielder Danny Drinkwater has returned to Chelsea ahead of their clash with Nottingham Forest.

Frank Lampard's men face the Reds at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in an FA Cup Third Round tie.

And ahead of the game, one of the Blues' loan players, Danny Drinkwater, has returned to the fold.

The former Leicester City midfielder was on loan at Burnley, but he has only played 58 minutes of Premier League action so far this season.

That has lead Chelsea to recall the midfielder, who arrived at Stamford Bridge on a deal worth around £35m in 2017.

Though, he has only made 12 league appearances for the Blues since.

He was charged with drink-driving in April this year and in September, the England midfielder suffered ankle ligament damage following an incident at a nightclub.

Drinkwater has been linked with a move to Aston Villa this month - the West Midlands club losing midfielder John McGinn to an ankle injury for up to three months - but for now, he is expected to rejoin the Chelsea squad.
