Chelsea midfielder hints Marina Granovskaia decision has already been made on free transfer

Marco van Ginkel's time at Chelsea looks to be finally coming to an end this summer.

The Dutchman has been with the Blues since 2013 when he made the move from Vitesse, but he has only ever managed two Premier League appearances at senior level.

The now 28-year-old has been out on loan for much of his time, spending five spells out on loan, including one at AC Milan, another at Stoke City and three at PSV.

He remains at PSV heading into the final months of his contract at Chelsea, and still with no apparent future at Stamford Bridge, he is hoping his current club make a permanent offer.

But one thing van Ginkel is almost sure of is that his long spell as a Chelsea loan exile looks destined to come to an end with Marina Granovskaia appearing to have already made her decision.

“I haven’t heard anything, so I think I’ll be transfer-free," he told ESPN Netherlands. "I haven’t heard from PSV yet, but it could be. I’ve always had a good time at PSV and was always appreciated here.”

Van Ginkel has struggled with a knee injury this season, missing much of the first half of the season with the setback and only making nine Eredivisie appearances this term.

Eight of those games have been substitute appearances, but van Ginkel did start PSV's final three games, scoring in the latest, giving him the chance to help his case when it comes to securing a permanent deal.

Given he has been with PSV over three seasons, helping the club claim two Eredivisie titles, van Ginkel should have plenty of credit in the bank with his temporary employers.

And he is already free to negotiate a deal ahead of this summer with any club outside England, something he may now look to take advantage of with PSV's season over and done with.
