Chelsea have reportedly submitted a bid to land Inter Milan wing-back Achraf Hakimi, but they are not alone.
The Blues are said to have made a bid of around £51.8million for the former Real Madrid star, though fresh reports from Sky Sports Italia suggest that bid has already been rejected.
It's claimed Inter want as much as £69m to allow Hakimi to leave, despite only signing him from Real Madrid for around £34.5m last year.
Though, it must be pointed out that the 22-year-old is coming off the back of an excellent season for Inter, helping them win the Serie A title under Antonio Conte.
And that's why Inter are looking to stand firm on their talented right-sided star, aware they don't need to budge given he is under contract at the club until 2025 as things stand.
That's despite reported bids from both Chelsea and PSG, but as the two European heavyweights go head-to-head, the Blues might just have a trump card to play.
Sky Sports Italia report Inter are interested in signing Emerson Palmieri this summer with the Chelsea left-back almost certainly available amid the presence of Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso at left-back.
It's reported Inter would want Emerson on loan for the season as part of any deal for Hakimi, though Chelsea could likely do one better than that and allow them to have the Italy international permanently.
Emerson is out of contract at Stamford Bridge next summer, and if he spends next season on loan at Inter, he will be allowed to leave for free next year anyway with no new contract likely.
Whether it is a loan deal or a permanent deal Inter want, Chelsea clearly have something the Italian's desire, and that could put them ahead of the likes of PSG in the race to land Hakimi this summer.
