Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel sends penalty shootout warning to Man City

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has fired a penalty shootout warning to Manchester City ahead of the Champions League final.

Tuchel's side have inflicted two defeats on City across the sides' previous two encounters, although Pep Guardiola has yet to reveal his hand and play his strongest side against the London club, which could prompt a change of fortunes for the Blues tomorrow.

While City fans will be hoping their first Champions League final is decided in normal time and the trophy comes back to Manchester, both teams' managers were asked in their press conferences about how prepared they are for a potential penalty shootout.

And Tuchel has emphatically responded to that question, giving his side a glowing report from their last training session.

"We always practise penalties when facing a match where it is possible to end in this way. Can we simulate the pressure, the fatigue, the occasion and how it will be tomorrow? No," Tuchel said on Friday.

"Still, we believe that we can take care of some patterns, rhythms and certain habits during penalties which we did.

"Honestly, the penalty shootout [in training] was fantastic in terms of quality from the takers, I don't think I ever saw something like this. 20 penalties taken in a row on no miss. They were so well-taken. Let's see.

"We have identified the guys who should take the penalties for us, but in the end, I don't know who is on the pitch. In the end, we need to be well prepared. We will go into it together no matter what happens."
