Maurizio Sarri has said he would be more than happy to speak to Roman Abramovich about his future at Chelsea as he rarely interacts with the club's owner.
Sarri witnessed his side fall to a humiliating 6-0 defeat away to Manchester City on Sunday, their heaviest reverse of the Premier League era.
Pressure is mounting on the Italian after suffering three defeats in his last four league outings, a run which has seen Chelsea slip out of the top four.
Abramovich is not known for showing patience to underachieving managers having previously dispensed with Luis Felipe Scolari, Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto Di Matteo inside their first full seasons at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri is likely to face an awkward conversation with the club's owner unless Chelsea's form improves quickly but the former Napoli manager claimed on Sunday that he would welcome a chance to talk to Abramovich.
“If Abramovich calls me I will be happy. I never really speak to him so I’d be happy to speak to him. That’s not a problem at all," Sarri told Sky Sports Italia.
"But I don’t know what to expect to be honest with you. You always ask questions about me but what the club will do - I don’t know. It will be your job to go talk to the club.”
Qualification for the Champions League is the minimum requirement for Chelsea but Sunday's defeat leaves Sarri's side one point behind fourth-place Manchester United.
Sarri admitted that such a heavy defeat is likely to affect his players but believes that they can still respond positively.
“Matches like this can leave a mark. It won’t be easy to get back on our feet after this," he said.
"Football is also made of heavy defeats. At half-time, I told the lads that if we were able to react, we’d come back stronger than ever.”
