Jorginho decision could pave way for Havertz

Chelsea could seal a deal for Kai Havertz after dropping their asking fee for Jorginho in a bid to fund the deal, according to reports.

According to a report by calciomercato, an Italian media outlet, Chelsea are ready to reduce the £36million asking price for midfielder Jorginho.

Juventus, now managed by former Chelsea chief Maurizio Sarri, are believed to be leading the race for the former Napoli star, with Sarri, of course, a big fan of his qualities.

And it seems that Granovskaia is now ready to use Jorginho as an option to try and seal a deal for Havertz, who is patiently awaiting the green light to seal a move to Stamford Bridge.

Lampard wants Werner striker partner

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen to add a strike partner for Timo Werner, reports state.

Along with the additions of Werner and Hakim Ziyech, talks are also underway to add Havertz to complement Chelsea's already impressive array of attacking talent.

However, Football Insider claim that Lampard has requested that the club signs another quality striker to complement the existing options.

Chelsea already have Werner, Olivier Giroud, Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi, but the latter is expected to leave this summer.

Chelsea impacted by Premier League changes

The Premier League chaired its Annual General Meeting [AGM] on Thursday ahead of the start of the 2020/21 season next month.

After a turbulent 2019/20 campaign, which was heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, Premier League bosses have today set out plans ahead of the start of next season, which is poised to get underway on the weekend of September 12.

Whilst a whole host of topics were discussed at the meeting, shareholders agreed to rule changes concerning both VAR and the number of substitutions managers are allowed to make during matches.

Following the coronavirus shutdown, Premier League managers were allowed to make up to and including five substitutions per game, with them able to name nine players on their respective benches.
