Chelsea make big Tammy Abraham transfer decision as Real Madrid handed potential selection blow

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Thursday, April 29.

Blues make huge Abraham decision

Chelsea are prepared to sell striker Tammy Abraham in the summer and will listen to offers of around £40million, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Abraham has fallen down the pecking order since Thomas Tuchel was appointed as the Blues' new boss in January, with the likes of Timo Werner, Olivier Giroud and Kai Havertz all being preferred to the English forward.

Despite the 23-year-old being the club's top goal scorer this season in all competitions, he has really struggled for game time in 2021.

Marcelo could miss second-leg for strange reason

Real Madrid could be without left-back Marcelo for the Champions League semi-final second-leg against Chelsea for a rather bizarre reason.

According to Spanish outlet El Mundo, the Brazilian defender has been selected as part of a polling station in the Madrid Assembly elections, which take place on May 4 - just a day before the decisive clash at Stamford Bridge.

Marcelo started the 1-1 draw between the two sides on Tuesday evening and played a huge part in Los Blancos' equaliser.

The experienced full-back delivered the ball that was headed down by Casemiro, into Eder Militao, who then found Karim Benzema, who struck past Edouard Mendy.

Hazard was not surprised by Chelsea

Eden Hazard has admitted he was not surprised by Chelsea causing his Real Madrid side several problems during Tuesday evening's first-leg.

Hazard, who has suffered an injury-plagued season in the Spanish capital, came on as a second-half substitution for the hosts at a rainy Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

The Blues secured a 1-1 draw at Madrid's training ground - which, in usual circumstances, may be seen as a really positive result, but Tuchel's side were dominant for large parts of the match.

This isn't something that surprised former Blues star Hazard, though, who spoke very glowingly of his old club.

"They have good players. I know all of them, almost, so I'm not surprised," the Belgian said to CBS Sports when asked about Chelsea causing Madrid problems on the night.

"They have good players, they can play football. But we knew it, we prepared the game for that. And I think with a bit more luck, we could have scored more goals, but them as well.

"We have big players on the team and big players can always produce something. So we have the mentality to win everything. So like I said just before now we have another game, second leg over there. We'll have to push to win the game."
