Chelsea share dominance as 'best club for young English talent' as Manchester City influence rises

Chelsea are no longer the best place for English youngsters to go as Manchester City establish themselves as an attractive option, Training Ground Guru has found.

Despite losing the likes of Jadon Sancho, Tyrese Campbell and David Brooks over recent years, City are now rivalling previously unrivalled Chelsea.

For the past four years, Chelsea have sit alone as the best place for young Lions after earning the most call-ups to the six England teams from Under-16 level to the Under-21s.

Chelsea again sit top for a fifth year but City have matched their 23 players after finishing as runners-up to the Blues since 2016.

The two clubs combined have contributed 20 per cent of all the players "selected for England youth teams" at Under-16, -17, -18, -19, -20 and -21 levels, underlining their status as world-class youth set-ups.

Arsenal sit in third place with 17 call-ups, with Tottenham just back in 14 ahead of Liverpool's 13. Manchester United and West Ham boast 12.

Everton has traditionally sat in the top five but have dropped to 10th in the 2019/20 study.
