Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham wins Championship Player of the Month for Aston Villa scoring exploits

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has been named Championship player of the month for his exploits with Aston Villa.

The 21-year-old had six goals to his name in November including a quartet in a thrilling 5-5 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Abraham’s goals helped Villa go unbeaten throughout last month and Dean Smith’s side now sit just three points outside the playoffs and a further four off the top two.

"I'm delighted to be named player of the month,” Abraham said. "It's been a great few weeks for us as a team as well as me personally.

“Hopefully we can continue that over a busy Christmas period and beyond.”

Abraham enjoyed a similarly impressive spell in the Championship during the 2016-17 season, where he scored 23 goals in 41 appearances for Bristol City, though he struggled to replicate that form with Swansea in the top flight last season as he found the net only eight times.

Villa boss Smith said: "Tammy has been a key part of our recent good form.

“His previous spell in the Championship showed everyone what he's capable of and he's displaying his goalscoring abilities once again. Long may it continue."
