A lot of those fans want to see James given a chance in the first team at Stamford Bridge next season by Maurizio Sarri, especially if the club are indeed hit by a two-window transfer ban.

While it remains to be seen what happens next for the defender in regards to his Chelsea future, Wigan are planning to show him how grateful they have been for his high level of performances week-in, week-out at the club by handing him the armband at such a young age and by bringing him off later in the game to allow fans to show their appreciation to the 19-year-old.
