Chelsea legends to battle for £170m prize at Wembley

Frank Lampard will do battle with John Terry for a place in the Premier League on May 27 after he led Derby to the Championship play-off final against Aston Villa.

The Chelsea greats will tussle for one of the richest prizes in sport, with last year’s match between Fulham and Villa thought to have been worth £170million.

Terry, who is assistant manager at Villa, saw his side beat West Brom on penalties on Tuesday, while Lampard’s men sealed a 4-3 aggreate win over Leeds with a 4-2 victory at Elland Road last night. Derby produced a fine comeback after falling 2-0 behind in the tie, with Lampard gaining revenge for the ‘Spygate’ scandal in January, when a member of Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa’s staff was spotted watching a Derby training session.

Lampard said: “I know what its like as a player, but the pressure is even more intense as a manager. Getting to Wembley the way we did, coming back in that way, is right up there with anything I’ve achieved in football.”
