Chelsea legend reveals it would be a 'dream' to manage the Blues

Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has admitted it would be a 'dream' to manage the Blues one day but also states that now might not be quite the right time for him.

Hasselbaink is number 13 on the list of all-time leading scorers for the Blues, however he hasn't had the best of times in management since making that switch.

He has had stints at Burton Albion, Queens Park Rangers and Northampton Town with varying success, while he is currently without a club.

However, the former Blues striker admits that one day he might like to grace the dugout at Stamford Bridge one day.

"It would be a dream, but I need to get back in again first and get the right club and try to be successful with the right club," Hasselbaink told Love Sport Radio .

"That is the most normal thing to think about at the moment."

There has been some criticism of current Blues boss Maurizio Sarri during his time in west London so far, with a lot of fans yet to be enamoured with his style of play or character.

However, Hasselbaink doesn't really endorse that train of thought and instead believes there has been a step up from Antonio Conte's second season.

"I think it’s a great progression from last year where they were. It has been a step in the right direction," he added. "The club is in the Champions League, and they couldn’t afford to be two years in a row out of the Champions League.

"That was the main objective, let’s not forget; they were in the League Cup final and they are in the Europa League final.

"If they can win that it’s been a successful season."
