Chelsea legend makes Romelu Lukaku prediction amid Inter Milan transfer interest

Former Chelsea star Gianfranco Zola believes that Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku would be the perfect fit for Inter Milan and their new manager Antonio Conte.

Lukaku moved to the Red Devils from Everton back in 2017 for £75m but the Belgium international has not reached his full potential at the club.

The 26-year-old, who has not featured for the club during the pre-season, scored 28 goals in the last two Premier League campaigns combined but Marcus Rashford has jumped ahead of him in the pecking order, leading the striker to consider his future.

Inter have made no secret of their desire to land the towering forward, with new boss Conte having previously tried to sign the player during his time at Chelsea.

The Serie A giants had a £54million bid rejected last week but remain interested in Lukaku, with Zola explaining that the striker has the 'right characteristics' to succeed in Italy.

"In addition to the purchases already made, I read that Lukaku could also arrive," Zola told FC Inter News.

"He would certainly be a player of great impact, he has the right characteristics for the game of Conte and he is a striker who, coming from a championship like the English one, could find so many advantages in Italy.

"At the physical and athletic level, the Premier League prepares you really well right now and I am sure he can have a big impact in the Italian championship."
