Chelsea legend John Terry makes clear Mason Mount admiration with bold prediction

John Terry has boldly predicted Mason Mount will go on to captain both Chelsea and England in the future.

The 22-year-old midfielder has shone again for the Blues so far this season, and has scored three goals and created three assists in the Premier League.

Mount has also now won 13 caps for England and looks a certain for Gareth Southgate's European Championship squad.

Terry clearly sees huge leadership potential in the player, and has tipped him for a captaincy role for club and country.

Speaking on an Instagram Live video, Terry said: "Mason Mount is 100 per cent a future Chelsea captain.

"He’s been the best player at Chelsea this season to be honest. He’s a great lad, trains unbelievably well, is Chelsea through and through and shows leadership qualities.

"In my mind he’ll be Chelsea and England captain."

There were some worries that Mount may not be favoured by new Blues manager Thomas Tuchel after he was named as a substitute in the German's first game in charge against Wolves.

But he has started every game since, and scored his side's opener in the 2-1 win against Sheffield United at the weekend.

Speaking about Mount, Tuchel said: ‘It was very clear before because we watched the team and he was a regular starter with Frank (Lampard).

"We had no doubt he had potential and was the team player that he is.We did not choose him for the first game because we opted for a slightly different profile for the two No 10 positions.

"He showed what a big influence he can have from the bench. From here, there are no guarantees for anybody, not even for Mason.

"It is easy with him because he leaves his heart out there on the pitch, but everybody else does the same thing.

"It is a team effort and Mason is the first to agree."
