Ron Harris has backed Frank Lampard to succeed as Chelsea manager.
The 41-year-old was confirmed as head coach on Thursday morning after weeks of speculation linking him with the role.
Securing the role at Stamford Bridge is no mean feat after just one year in management.
Lampard did very well in his year-long spell with Derby County, taking them to within 90 minutes of a return to the Premier League.
Derby have a poor track record of falling away from the promotion-chasing pack in recent years, but Lampard managed to drill a resilience into his young side which saw them squeeze into the Championship's top six.
It's exactly that which Ron Harris believes makes him perfect for the Chelsea job.
Speaking to Love Sport Radio , Harris said: "At any football club when the manager loses the respect of the players then you're struggling but Frank (Lampard) is a different type of fella.
"It's no coincidence that in his short time at Derby - I know they missed out on promotion - but he certainly turned the club around at Derby and I'm sure he will do the same at Chelsea."
