Chelsea legend Didier Drogba delivers Arsenal double blow as Edu’s transfer business is mocked

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba couldn’t hold back from trolling Arsenal after the club allowed Willian to leave for Corinthians before the end of the transfer window.

The Brazilian winger was brought in as one of Mikel Arteta’s first signings at the Emirates and reportedly earned £220,000-a-week.

But after a dismal first season with the club, where he scored just one goal in 25 Premier League appearances, Willian later found that he was no longer part of the Spaniard’s immediate plans, and so desired a fresh start elsewhere.

The 33-year-old negotiated an agreement to terminate his contract early so that he could re-join Corinthians in his homeland, bringing an end to his eight-year stay in England after a thoroughly successful time in west London with Chelsea.

Willian was a mainstay in a Blues team that won two Premier League titles, the Europa League, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup in seven seasons at Stamford Bridge.

And now, Drogba has rubbed extra salt into the wounds on Twitter, via the Mirror, as he referenced two other successful former Chelsea players, David Luiz and Petr Cech, who went on to have a mixed time at the Emirates.

The former Blues star wrote: Thank you agent Willian, your mission is over, like David Luiz and Petr Cech.”

It’s the second time in a week that Drogba has commented on the Gunners for their decision to sell Willian, as he also expressed a desire for the winger to return to Chelsea on Twitter.

He said: "Oh Willyyyyyyyyyyyyyy haaaaaaaannnnnnnnnn Come back home," - accompanied by a wink emoji and a blue heart.

The ex-Ivory Coast frontman followed this up in a later tweet with ten laughing emojis, appearing to mock the Gunners, who currently sit 20th in the Premier League table following three losses from their opening three league fixtures.
