Chelsea keen to discuss Andre Onana transfer ahead of Inter Milan talks over Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea will meet Inter Milan next week to discuss Romelu Lukaku’s future and the potential signing of goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Officials will travel to Italy as Chelsea begin to lay the foundations for an overhaul of their squad this summer.

Lukaku is due to return to Chelsea at the end of the season following his loan spell at Inter.

The £97.5million striker wants to remain in Italy but faces a fight to convince the Serie A club to keep him for another season on the current terms of his loan.

Inter had an agreement to keep Lukaku next season for the same £7m loan fee and £165,000-a-week in wages, roughly half his Chelsea contract, they paid this season.

But the 29-year-old has missed 18 matches through injury since joining last summer and Inter are under financial pressure to offload players to cover club debts.

Sending Lukaku back to Chelsea would help them balance the books, and his future will be top on the agenda when the two clubs meet in Milan.

Chelsea will also discuss their interest in Onana as they target a new goalkeeper this summer.

Kepa Arrizabalaga or Edouard Mendy will be offered in a swap deal, though it remains to be seen if the Italian giants would be interested in a player exchange or would want a larger transfer fee.

Brentford’s David Raya, Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel and Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili are among the other goalkeeper options that have been explored.

Chelsea are closing in on the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino and need to offload up to 12 players this summer, with 32 senior players in the squad a further 21 out on loan.

If Lukaku leaves, Chelsea will sign a striker this summer and Napoli star Victor Osimhen is high on their wish list.

Manchester United are also interested in the 24-year-old Nigeria international, who is set to win the Serie A title with Napoli.
