Chelsea join Tottenham and Man United in transfer race for perfect Edouard Mendy replacement

Chelsea appear eager to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy this month as Graham Potter looks to further bolster his side. Todd Boehly has already welcomed a number of new faces to Stamford Bridge since taking ownership of the Blues, including the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk, Carney Chukwuemeka and Wesley Fofana.

But, only one of which has been a goalkeeper - Gabriel Slonina. The 18-year-old shot-stopper completed a £12million move from Chicago Fire in the summer before returning to the MLS side on loan for the remainder of the year.

Slonina has featured several times for the Development Squad but he is yet to granted his senior debut. In the meantime, Potter has been left to work with Arrizabalaga and Mendy between the sticks and has been dealt mixed results.

Robert Sanchez was one of, if not, the most important pieces of Potter's puzzle at the Amex Stadium. The Spaniard hasn't been linked with a move to Chelsea but the Blues are said to have their eyes on an alternative.

According to the Telegraph, Potter and Erik ten Hag are interested in Brentford goalkeeper David Raya. The report states that the two clubs are ready to rival Tottenham for the Spaniard's signature.

He has featured 19 times for Thomas Frank's side in the Premier League this season, recording six clean sheets. His impressive displays have not only helped transform the club into a top-10 side but have also attracted interest from a number of top European outfits.

Raya, who sees his deal with the Bees expire in 18 months time, has been identified as the long-term successor to Hugo Lloris. The Frenchman made a costly mistake in the north London derby, handing Arsenal the lead over just quarter-of-an-hour.

When quizzed on his future by Spanish outlet AS, Raya said: "Every player has goals and wants to improve.

"Now I am focused on my team and in the summer, we will see what happens. If they want to do business, they will have to do it but there is a long season left and I am only focused on doing it well. In the summer, we will assess my situation."

Amid growing speculation, Frank has insisted that his shot-stopper is happy at the club. He said: "I said many times I think he is among the best in the league and he has performed fantastic for us, but he is going nowhere.

"Let’s see. We are interested. I know David is very happy here, but there will be ongoing discussions of course."
