Chelsea interested in £31.5m Brazilian sensation as Thomas Tuchel eyes Ajax transfer

Chelsea are expected to be extremely busy in the 2022 summer transfer window, with manager Thomas Tuchel attempting to mould the squad into one that will fully represent his identity.

The Blues will most definitely be in the market for a central midfielder, along with strengthening the backline since currently, many first-team players within the squad have uncertain futures.

Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta are all out of contract this summer, with neither player at this stage looking likely to commit their long term futures at the club.

In terms of attacking reinforcements, a whole host of names have been linked with moves to Stamford Bridge and recent developments have indicated that AFC Ajax star Antony is on Tuchel's radar.

According to Fichajes, the Brazillian is attracting interest from many clubs across Europe, one of which is Xavi's Barcelona, who have recently just added Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Adama Traore to their squad.

The report however does go on to say that despite the interest from the Catalan giants, they are currently trailing both Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign the talented 21-year-old.

Antony has been in fine form in the Netherlands this season, notching eleven goals and setting up six more in all competitions, so it's no surprise to see why there is significant interest in him.

According to transfermarkt, Antony is valued at £31.5 million but given the fact that his current deal expires in 2025, Ajax are in a fairly strong position to acquire the maximum out of his sale so any potential move coming to fruition will likely involve a much higher transfer.
