Chelsea injury news and expected return dates including Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic

Premier League title hopefuls Chelsea will be back in action this weekend and will be looking to build on the momentum they gained just before the first international break of the season.

Frank Lampard's Blues will welcome 11th-placed Southampton to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

The west Londoners will face Ralph Hasenhuttl's troops on the back of a 4-0 rout of Crystal Palace, a victory which erased the memory of their disappointing 3-3 draw with West Brom.

But who will be available for Saturday's visit of the Saints? Time for a Chelsea team news and injury update.

Ben Chilwell

Former Leicester City man Ben Chilwell is a doubt for Saturday's visit of Saints.

The left-back withdrew from the England squad on Tuesday after missing the Three Lions' friendly against Wales and Sunday’s Nations League victory over Belgium.

Chilwell has been struggling with plantar fascia as of late, so he could very well be a spectator this weekend.

Hakim Ziyech

The former Ajax midfielder has yet to feature for Chelsea this season but could be in line to make his first start for the Blues this weekend.

The 27-year-old returned to action last Friday in Morocco's 3-1 win over Senegal, meaning he's now match-fit.

With the crafty winger now firing on all cylinders, Lampard may very well decide this weekend is the perfect opportunity to blood him into the first team.

Billy Gilmour

The young Scot is still recovering from knee surgery but won't be match-fit until after the November international break.

"He is progressing well," Lampard recently said of the midfielder. "It was forecast as a four-month injury when he went into surgery, so we are looking at about four weeks from now that he will hopefully be fit, barring any hiccups.

"It has been a difficult injury. His attitude and everything he approaches in his professional life is spot on so he hopefully should be four weeks.

"He will be an important member of the squad at that point. We all know his breakthrough last year and what he gave to the group and we hope to see much more of that."

Timo Werner

The £48million summer signing from RB Leipzig has recovered from illness - which kept him out of Germany's recent fixtures with Turkey and Ukraine - and is expected to lead the line against Southampton.

Christian Pulisic

Will likely start against Saints following his return to the fold against Palace after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Lampard, however, could opt to bench him in order to hand Ziyech his first start for his new club.

Edouard Mendy

The 28-year-old will miss this weekend's match due to a thigh injury, which he suffered whilst on international duty with Senegal.

Willy Caballero is expected to deputise between the sticks for the summer signing.
