Chelsea 'in advanced Thiago Silva transfer talks' as Brazilian set to leave PSG

Chelsea are reportedly in 'advanced talks' to sign defender Thiago Silva.

The experienced Brazilian, 35, is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain after he captains the club in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich on Sunday.

According to The Athletic, he has held talks over a move to Stamford Bridge over the last few days although a deal is not yet close as they iron out several details.

Chelsea have a policy of only offering players over the age of 30 one-year deals, something which contributed to the departure of Silva's international team-mate Willian to head to Arsenal.

But the defender could be offered a two-year deal, something offered to David Luiz before his sale to Arsenal and Willian before he took up a three-year contract at the Emirates.

And Silva is said to be keen to play in the Premier League before he retires after a glittering career.

He could well prove a short-term fix in a problem area for Frank Lampard after his side leaked goals last season.

The likes of Declan Rice and Lewis Dunk are on Lampard's radar but could prove too costly as they aim to splash the cash on playmaker Kai Havertz instead.

Talks are also said to be at an advanced stage over a move for Havertz whilst Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have already arrived at the club.

Lampard's side leaked 54 goals last season and the former player is desperate to improve at the back.

Youngster Fikayo Tomori could head in the opposite direction to France, with Rennes reportedly keen on a move as Marina Granovskaia looks to start a bidding war to drive up the fee for the 22-year-old.

Tomori struggled to hold down a regular role last season and L'Equipe say he could be moved on for the right price this summer.
