Chelsea hit with FA charge for Liverpool incident as N’Golo Kante suffers injury blow

Here are your Chelsea morning headlines on Thursday, September 2.

Chelsea handed FA charge

The FA have announced that Chelsea have been charged following the immediate aftermath of Liverpool’s penalty at Anfield last weekend.

Thomas Tuchel’s men remonstrated with the referee for the decision and their punishment has now been announced by the FA via a short statement.

It read: "Chelsea FC has been charged with two breaches of FA Rule E20.1 following their Premier League fixture against Liverpool FC on Saturday [28/08/21].

"It is alleged that Chelsea FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 48th minute of the first half and following the half-time whistle.

"Chelsea FC has until Friday [03/09/21] to provide a response to this charge."

N’Golo Kante withdraws from France squad

In even more bad news, Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been forced to withdraw from the France squad.

Didier Deschamps originally selected the Chelsea man, but he has now been forced to pull out having failed to recover from the ankle injury he suffered in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.

It remains to be seen whether he will be fit for the Blues Premier League clash with Aston Villa after the international break.

Havertz praises “special” Tuchel

So often Chelsea’s star man in recent months, Kai Havertz has saved special praise for Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

In an interview with Frankfurter Rundchau, he said: “He’s a very special coach.

“It’s impressive how he’s managed to turn things around in half a year at the club. He always gives us options.

“We always know what to do. Every player knows what the person next to him is doing. That’s always half the battle in football. He takes us all very far. Me personally, too.”
