Chelsea are expected to be active in the transfer market again this summer having invested heavily last summer with a spending of more than £250million.
According to recent reports, Roman Abramovich is willing to invest another £150million this summer and a striker is at the top of Chelsea's wishlist.
Just which striker is another question, and the Blues could yet end up giving whichever frontman they do sign the number nine shirt amid talk of a Tammy Abraham departure.
The number nine shirt at Chelsea has not always brought good luck for frontmen, with many players from Radamel Falcao to Khalid Boulahrouz and Chris Sutton to Mateja Kezman struggling while wearing the digit.
But who might be given the opportunity to prove the supposed curse wrong?
Erling Haaland
Haaland has been linked with Chelsea for months now with everyone from Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid all among those linked with the Borussia Dortmund star.
With a reported price tag of somewhere between £100million and £150million, Haaland is by far the most pricey of the options at striker, but there are reporters Abramovich will provide a £150million transfer fund for Chelsea this summer.
Just whether Chelsea could win the race, even if they were willing to spend such a large amount of money on one player, is another question.
Romelu Lukaku
The most familiar face of them all, Lukaku, is another player who will not come cheap, currently valued at around £100million by Inter Milan having gone on to impress since his departure from Chelsea to Everton in 2014.
Lukaku made a stop at Manchester United, but since moving to Inter, he has scored 45 goals in 70 Serie A appearances, helping his current side to the title.
Lukaku once wore number nine for the under-23s, settling for number 18 in the senior squad.
Could he return to wear number nine for the first team?
Sergio Aguero
From the pricey to the much more affordable.
Manchester City legend Aguero is available for free this summer with his contract at the Etihad set to expire next month, and while he has had his injury issues, he would bring with him a wealth of goalscoring experience.
The problem is that the likes of Barcelona are interested in signing Aguero this summer, and they are favourites to land him.
Chelsea are reportedly second-favourites, though.
Could they pull off a swoop for the Argentine? There is talk he might prefer to stay in the Premier League.
Paulo Dybala
Dybala was heavily linked with Chelsea a while back, but while links have died down a little, the Argentine continues to be tipped for a move to Stamford Bridge.
The most recent reports suggested Chelsea might send Jorginho and Emerson Palmieri to Juventus in a bid to lure Dybala to London.
Dybala has not been as prolific this season, scoring only five times in what has been a disappointing season for Juventus.
It's fair to say the 27-year-old could be at the bottom of a list featuring Haaland, Lukaku and Aguero.
