Chelsea handed new Aurelien Tchouameni transfer boost as loan approach rejected

Chelsea's quest on all four fronts continues after safe passage in both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup but there's also work going on behind the scenes off the field.

The January transfer window presents Thomas Tuchel with the opportunity to bolster his ranks, which could see new faces drafted in.

Two weeks into the window, there's already a wealth of speculation floating around regarding both imminent deals and ones for the future.

First off, Chelsea are said to be 'optimistic' that they can win the fierce battle to land the services of Monaco starlet Aurelien Tchouameni, Sports Illustrated states.

A heap of top sides across Europe are attributed with an interest in the highly-rated midfielder, who is the latest success from Monaco's esteemed development track.

Manchester United are also in the hunt for his services, while Liverpool have been touted previously, but Chelsea appear to be confident they can seal a deal.

Elsewhere, Football Italia cites multiple reports from Italy that indicate Juventus' proposal to land Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan has been rejected.

The Italian giants are on the hunt for a midfielder with Arthur Melo heavily touted for a move to Arsenal but the Blues have shut the door for a move for Loftus-Cheek.

Finally, AC Milan's hunt for a central defender continues and the Italian outfit are said to be locked in discussions with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea for potential recruits.

United's Eric Bailly is the most heavily-touted for a move but is on Africa Cup of Nations duty with the Ivory Coast, while Milan are also interested in City's Nathan Ake and Chelsea's Malang Sarr.
