Chelsea handed major transfer boost with Manchester United 'confident' of signing Jadon Sancho

Chelsea have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane with Manchester United having seemingly dropped out of the race for the forward.

The two Premier League rivals have been linked with a move for the Spurs striker in the past, with the striker having expressed his explicit desire to leave North London.

The competition was considerably more fierce with Manchester City also thought to be in the running.

However, according to The Athletic, the Red Devils have taken a step back from any potential deal and are instead focusing their efforts on signing Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho instead.

As per the report, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops are prioritising a swoop for the winger with talks having got underway between the two clubs.

United are said to be ‘confident’ on sealing a deal, and could potentially look to complete a move before the start of the Euros - albeit that proving a somewhat difficult prospect.

With the Red Devils dropping out of the race for Kane - for the upcoming summer at least - this could see Chelsea’s chances of bringing the Tottenham forward to Stamford Bridge increase quite considerably.

Thomas Tuchel is aiming on strengthening his attacking options ahead of next season.

Timo Werner has been in inconsistent form since his arrival from RB Leipzig last summer, whilst Tammy Abraham, Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud all look set to leave the club.

The signing of Kane would certainly be a statement considering his standing in the Premier League goalscoring charts.

Nevertheless, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is thought not be keen on selling his star forward, whilst Kane himself still has three years left to run on his Tottenham contract, meaning that he would still command an eye-watering fee in order to bring him to Chelsea.
