Chelsea handed major double boost as duo spotted training ahead of Liverpool

Chelsea duo Timo Werner and Thiago Silva were spotted in training ahead of Saturday's fixture against Liverpool.

The Londoners have been hit with Covid and injuries over the past few weeks which has seen their Premier League title challenge hit the rocks.

But the reigning UEFA Champions League holders have been handed a major boost with the return of Werner and Silva to first-team training.

The pair were pictured taking part in drills and will provide some depth given defenders Reece James and Ben Chillwell will miss significant time due to injuries.

Andreas Christensen was taken off at half-time against Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday night, meaning the return of the Brazilian Silva has come at the perfect time for the Blues.

The return of Werner will come as a major surprise given boss Thomas Tuchel said things looked bleak for the German forward after their 1-1 draw against the Seagulls.

"Not good. Not good. Not in training," Tuchel said after the final whistle when asked about Werner.

Neither started the 1-1 draw at the start of the season, though Silva did come off the bench at half-time with Chelsea down to 10 men. Werner was an unused substitute.

International teammate Kai Havertz was also pictured at Cobham as he continues his recovery from injury.
