Chelsea handed Erling Haaland transfer boost as Barcelona set Sergino Dest price-tag

Chelsea are looking to revitalise their season following difficult results over the festive period and it could lead to activity in the transfer market.

The Blues are being linked with a host of names, while the summer is also set to be significant with a number of the squad's defensive core seeing their contracts expire.

As defending Champions League winners, the club has a lot of pull in the transfer market and there's one huge battle where the Blues have been handed a major boost.

The hunt for the services of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is going to be massive at the end of the season - and the Daily Star reports that one of Chelsea's rivals has pulled-out of the pursuit.

Manchester United are said to have 'reluctantly' accepted that Haaland won't be moving to Old Trafford - but it's not all good news for Chelsea.

That's because the decision has stemmed to the fact that Haaland reportedly has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.

Elsewhere, Barcelona are set to allow Sergino Dest to leave in the January transfer market and have slapped a €40million (£33.4million) price-tag on the USA international, El Nacional says.

Xavi is said to be unimpressed by Dest's defensive vulnerabilities, with Dani Alves now first-choice following his return to the club.

Finally, Chelsea are in the market for a left-back this month amid Ben Chilwell's injury issues and it could see Emerson brought back from his loan spell in France, the Evening Standard reports.

Alternative options are also being considered, with Everton's Lucas Digne of interest after Rafael Benitez confirmed his desire to leave.
