Chelsea handed Dean Henderson boost as Sheffield United make £18.5m decision

Chelsea are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper this summer, with a number of names being linked with the club.

A disappointing season for Kepa Arrizabalaga in the Blues’ goal has led to Frank Lampard searching for a replacement during the current transfer window.

Names that are said to be interesting Chelsea include Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel, while the Blues are said to be considering testing Manchester United’s reserve with an offer for goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The 23-year-old had an impressive first season in the Premier League on loan at Sheffield United during the 2019/20 campaign, and the Blades were keen for the goalkeeper to stay at Bramall Lane for a bit longer.

However, Henderson is highly rated at Old Trafford, and it now seems that Chris Wilder has moved onto other targets ahead of next season.

As reported by BBC Sport , Sheffield United have now agreed an £18.5 million fee with Bournemouth for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who also had an impressive campaign in 2019/20 despite his team dropping to the Championship.

That now means that Chelsea may face less competition for Henderson, should they wish to make a push for the United goalkeeper.

However, Sky Sports report that Manchester United are continuing talks with Henderson over a new deal at the club and are determined to keep him at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.
