Chelsea handed Christian Pulisic injury boost as Thiago Silva edges closer to extending contract

Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Friday, November 27.

Chelsea set to extend defender’s contract

Chelsea plan to activate a clause in Thiago Silva’s contract which will see his stay at Stamford Bridge extended by a year.

The 36-year-old centre-back has excelled since arriving on a free transfer this summer following his release by French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

And, despite his advancing years, Chelsea are eager to keep him at the club beyond the end of the season, according to Sky Sports.

The Brazil international has inspired the Blues to six clean sheets in his nine appearances so far, with Frank Lampard’s side drastically improved at the back.

Chelsea’s December fixtures confirmed

Several Chelsea fixtures have been moved after the Premier League announced the confirmed dates for December’s games.

The first game of the month, against Leeds United on Saturday, December 5, has been pushed back from a 3pm kick-off to an 8pm start.

The Blues then travel to Everton on December 12, another 8pm kick-off which will be shown live on Sky Sports.

Three days later, Lampard's side take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in a 6pm start. Then comes a Boxing Day clash with Arsenal - 5.30pm kick-off - and finally a home game against Aston Villa on December 28, which gets underway at 5.30pm and will be broadcast on Amazon Prime.

Chelsea injury news ahead of Spurs clash

Chelsea could welcome back Christian Pulisic for Sunday’s London derby with Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.

The winger was absent with a hamstring problem as the Blues earned a late 2-1 win over Rennes in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

“Christian (Pulisic) stays back and doesn’t travel but the good news is that he has had aggression in the last week,” Lampard said.

“The reason he has stayed back is to get some physical work in so hopefully that will have him ready for selection come the weekend and onwards.”

Billy Gilmour is also moving closer to a return after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The 19-year-old midfielder has yet to feature for the first team this season, but has been building up his match fitness for Chelsea and Scotland’s Under-21 sides.
