The agent of Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez has said that there is a “very big possibility” of his client signing for Barcelona this summer.
Chelsea have been on the lookout for a striker since the start of the January transfer window as Frank Lampard attempts to take the goalscoring burden off of top scorer Tammy Abraham’s shoulders.
The Blues have been linked to a number of strikers including Timo Werner, Moussa Dembele and Edinson Cavani, but weren’t able to come to an agreement on any deal during the winter window.
At the start of the month, the player’s agent spoke out about the interest in his client , but now another one of the player’s representatives has given an update on his likely destination next season.
“There’s a very big possibility,” Sergio Zarate replied when asked about his client signing for Barcelona (via the Express ).
“He’s a great player. A tremendous player, this kid doesn’t have a ceiling.
"Those who they who rule, but it’s the player who decides.
"Leo [Messi] is there, I think he has a bit more chance of wanting to move beside the best (player) of all.
“Inter can want whatever they want, but the market rules.
"As always, when European giants want a player, they go with everything.
"Now what’s important is not the shirt.”
Martinez has scored 16 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for Inter so far this season.
