Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick has confirmed that Bayern Munich will not be making a move for Chelsea target Kai Havertz this summer.
The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has caught the eyes of some of the biggest clubs in Europe with his Bundesliga performances over the last season.
The 21-year-old scored 12 goals and provided three assists from midfield in the German league during the 2019/20 campaign.
Chelsea are looking to make the German international their third signing of the season after the arrivals of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner earlier in the summer as Frank Lampard looks to build a squad capable of closing the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
The Blues are now front-runners for the player, but were said to have faced competition from the likes of Bayern Munich earlier in the summer.
Now, in what could be a boost to Chelsea’s hopes of landing the midfielder, Flick has said that a move for Havertz won’t be on the cards for the German Champions during the transfer window.
During an interview with Sport1 , the Bayern boss made it clear that the German won’t be moving to the Allianz Arena.
“It’s not an issue, so I don’t worry about it,” he said when asked if he would like to sign Havertz.
That statement confirms the comments of Bayern chief Uli Hoeness, who also confirmed that the club would not rival Chelsea for the midfielder.
“I am sure that, after Leroy Sane, there will be no major transfers this year,” he told FAZ .
“That has nothing to do with the quality of Havertz. We all think he is a very, very good player.
