Chelsea are set to give manager Graham Potter more time at the helm after a difficult run of form, pointing towards the recent success of rivals Arsenal. According to the Athletic, their London neighbours are viewed as a great example of sticking by a head coach to create success.
The north London club stuck by Mikel Arteta since his appointment in 2019, despite a lack of managerial experience at the time of hiring. A rocky first two seasons led to some discontent from fans, while the side missing out on top four in the run-in last season led to further shouts of a change.
The board stood firm, showing their commitment to Arteta, who is now starting to bear fruit at the Emirates Stadium this season, sitting top of the Premier League. Potter seems to have been given similar reassurance after a meeting with the new owners after the World Cup.

"I’m even more confident," the Englishman said on the task ahead. "Even more aware of the support I have now than three months ago when I took the job."
One of the key ways the new owners are set to back him is through transfers, with the head coach given the chance to have a squad he'd prefer to work with. The Athletic report also claims that as many as three signings are being targeted before the end of the January transfer window, with four already made at this stage.
It remains to be seen if this blueprint for success will work for the Blues as well as it has for the Gunners so far, but it's a major decision in a new era for the club.
