Chelsea flop Bakayoko forgets shirt number and mistakenly substitutes himself

We're used to seeing footballers kick up a stink when they're hauled off, but it's not often you see a player willingly take himself out of the game.

That's what Chelsea flop Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is on loan at Monaco, did on Sunday when he saw the No14 go up on the electronic board and traipsed towards the dugout, raising his hands above his head to applaud the Stade Louis II home supporters.

Bakayoko used to wear the No14 during a permanent spell at Monaco before leaving for Stamford Bridge in 2017. Now back on loan in principality, he wears the No6 jersey, with team-mate Keita Balde Diao the new number 14.

But Bakayoko took a journey back in time on Sunday when manager Leonardo Jardim attempted to bring on Jean-Kévin Augustin in place of goalscorer Balde.

When Bakyoko reached the touchline, Jardim explained the error and the 25-year-old turned back towards his team-mates on the pitch before bending over in laughter. Balde instead jogged over, gave Bakayoko a high 10, and departed the field.

Cesc Fabregas tweeted after the game: "Only Baka could do something like that. I couldn’t stop laughing. Love you bro."

Monaco posted a video of the incident on their twitter feed after the game, below which Bakayoko commented in jest: "Give me back my 14 please."
