Chelsea fired major warning over Jude Bellingham’s future as Liverpool make major announcement

Liverpool supporters believe that the Reds could be set to beat Chelsea to the signing of Jude Bellingham this January amid Michael Edwards’ departure.

The Anfield outfit confirmed that the club’s sporting director would be leaving at the end of the season to pursue new opportunities.

A short statement released on Wednesday afternoon read: "We have today announced future changes to the structure of our football operations leadership, with the news that Michael Edwards will step down as sporting director at the end of this season.

"The 42-year-old has given notice to the club’s ownership of his wish to pursue a new challenge when his contract ends, allowing for a carefully managed and orderly transition to take place.”

Of course, the news will be damaging to the Reds, with Edwards having been given the credit of bringing the likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and many more to Anfield over the past few years - all transfers that have been key to the Reds’ trophy haul under Jurgen Klopp.

With Edwards leaving however, Liverpool supporters are hopeful that he can provide one more memorable transfer in the winter window in the form of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Here is what Reds fans have been saying on social media:

Of course, Bellingham has already been linked with a move to the Premier League. Chelsea have long been linked with his services.

It was reported that the Blues were interested in pursuing the England international in the summer but further suggestions have implied that Dortmund have no intention to sell in 2022.

Bellingham still has three-and-a-half years left to run on his current contract at the Signal Iduna Park.
