Chelsea FC youngster Billy Gilmour included in Scotland squad for Euro 2020

Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour has been included in Scotland’s squad for this summer’s European Championships.

The Blues youngster is yet to make his senior international debut, receiving his first call-up as Scotland head into their first major tournament since the 1998 World Cup.

Gilmour is one of three uncapped players in Steve Clarke’s 26-man squad, along with Rangers’ Nathan Patterson and Celtic midfielder David Turnbull.

Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney, Liverpool’s Andy Robertson and Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay are among a strong Premier League contingent that also includes Aston Villa’s John McGinn, Leeds United captain Liam Cooper and Sheffield United’s John Fleck.

Southampton pair Stuart Armstrong and Che Adams also make the cut, the latter having only declared for Scotland ahead of the March international break, while Newcastle’s Ryan Fraser is picked despite club boss Steve Bruce warning it would be a “gamble” to take him, given has has not featured since March because of a groin injury.

QPR striker Lyndon Dykes and Derby goalkeeper David Marshall - whose crucial playoff penalty shootout save booked Scotland’s place at the tournament - are also included.
