Chelsea youngster Armando Broja has completed a season-long loan move to Southampton, the club have confirmed.

The 19-year-old, who recently signed a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, is the third Chelsea player to make the switch to St Mary's this summer.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has already added defender Dynel Simeu to the club's B Team, while Tino Livramento penned a five-year contract following his own £5million move.

Broja impressed on loan with Vitesse Arnhem in the Eredivisie last season, scoring 11 goals for the Dutch club, but has just one cameo appearance from the bench in the Premier League for Chelsea.

Despite the departure of Olivier Giroud and the expected exit of Tammy Abraham, whom Southampton were also interested in, Broja would have been limited in terms of chances in west London this season and will now face the challenge of helping to replace the goals of Danny Ings on the south coast following his move to Aston Villa.

“I feel very happy. I was really excited to join Southampton. It’s obviously a very good Premier League club,” Broja said.

“They’ve got a good history and they play in the best league in the world, so it’s amazing for a young player to experience it, be in and around a Premier League team, and learn and develop from the older players, the staff and everyone here. It’s a very good opportunity.”

Southampton are also expected to complete the £15m signing of Adam Armstrong from Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday, beating Crystal Palace and Norwich to the deal.
