Kai Havertz scored a later winner against Newcastle United, another side to have had their ownership called into question.
Match-winner Havertz was delighted to have secured victory for the club at the end of a difficult week.
He told Sky Sports: "Of course it’s tough, but for us as players and the staff as well, we are privileged to train and continue what we love, and of course it’s hard for everyone, not only us.
"You feel sorry for everyone in the club, the supporters, also the workers, not only for us professionals, for the academy, for everyone, it’s a tough time.
"But we just tried to give everything for them in the moment and if you can give them moments like this, it’s always nice because we all have to stand together in these times and we tried to do that. We try to win games and give them a good feeling."
