Chelsea summer signing Kai Havertz says he always expected to struggle in his early months at the club but sees a bright future for himself at Stamford Bridge.
Havertz has just one goal and two assists in the Premier League since arriving for around £71million, but saw his early weeks at the club severely hampered after contracting coronavirus in November.
Further injuries after stunted Havertz’s progress, though he showed promise as a false nine under new manager Thomas Tuchel earlier in March.
After scoring for Germany against Iceland and then assisting the winner in a 1-0 victory in Romania, Havertz is more positive about his form moving forwards.
"It's been a tough season," Havertz said. "I know that things haven't been going smoothly.
"But I think that's normal when you first go abroad. It takes half a year or longer to adjust.
"I think that things are going well right now so I don't want to overthink those negative impressions from the past. I am positive and hope that the next weeks will be every bit as good."
Chelsea are fourth in the league with 51 points and host West Brom on Saturday after the international break.
