Chelsea FC goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga dropped by Spain for World Cup qualifiers

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has been left out of the Spain squad for their World Cup qualifiers in March.

Kepa has been replaced as the Chelsea No1 by Edouard Mendy this season and he has now lost his place in the Spain squad to in-form Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

The 26-year-old, who cost Chelsea £71.6million two years ago, was linked with a loan move in January but he remained at Stamford Bridge and his lack of action has dented his hopes of being selected for the Euros this summer.

Kepa has made just one Premier League appearance in 2021 - a 2-0 win over Newcastle on February 15.

He has made three appearances in the FA Cup and will hope to start when Chelsea play Sheffield United in the sixth round of that competition on Sunday.

Sanchez has been in brilliant form for Brighton this season and has been called up alongside Manchester United’s David De Gea and Athletic Bilbao's Unai Simon.
