Chelsea FC 4-1 Sheffield United: Thiago Silva scores first goal as rampant Blues go third in Premier League

Thiago Silva scored his first Chelsea goal as the Blue continued their terrific form with a 4-1 thumping of Sheffield United to go third in the Premier League

The visitors arrived bottom of the division but took a shock lead inside the opening ten minutes when a well-worked short corner saw David McGoldrick flick past Edouard Mendy,  ending the ‘keeper’s run of six successive clean sheets.

Abraham levelled midway through the half as he swiped Mateo Kovacic’s cut-back into the far corner after a smart ball from Hakim Ziyech.

Chilwell then completed the turnaround 11 minutes later when he forced a superb Ziyech cross in at the back post.

Frank Lampard’s men were much the better side throughout and made the points safe when Silva opened his account with a glancing header from another terrific Ziyech delivery.

The Moroccan then sent Timo Werner through one-on-one only for the German to fluff his lines, but he made amends moments later when pouncing on a loose ball to thunder home Chelsea’s fourth.
