Chelsea fans will love what Spurs ace Harry Winks said about Ruben Loftus-Cheek in 2013

Ruben Lotus-Cheek is nearing a return to first team football with Chelsea.

The midfielder has not played since rupturing his Achilles at the end of last season, but he is closing in on a return to action now and he even admitted last week that he was "ready to go".

He told WOWHYDRATE: "I’ve actually had a few setbacks that have put me behind which has been quite frustrating to be honest.

"I’ve had to learn to walk again and I’ve only just got pain free but for sure I’m going to come back stronger, sharper and do whatever I can to be in better shape.

"Everything I’ve been working towards is for the feeling of stepping back onto that pitch again and I’m ready to go."

Loftus-Cheek enjoyed a fine season last year, establishing himself as a first team regular and making a mark on the international stage with England too.

He is desperate to return and another player who will be happy to see him back, it seems, is Tottenham ace Harry Winks.

Winks has worked his way up through the England ranks alongside Loftus-Cheek and will be hoping they can both pull on the Three Lions again in the near future.

While Spurs and Chelsea fans may not always see eye-to-eye, the Blues supporters will love what Winks said about Loftus-Cheek way back in 2013.

Winks told his Twitter followers to "follow under 17 team mate @RubeLoftusCheek (now @rubey_lcheek) next Zidane #future."

And Chelsea users on Reddit have dug the tweet up with @seriious_sam saying: "He wasn't wrong though, can't wait for him to be back."

And that post got a huge number of responses too.

User @ScorpiaHP said: "You know, I'd never thought of comparing him to Zidane purely because he's such a beast. But it makes sense in a way, Zidane was also quite tall but very nimble with his feet."

Another user @somestupidname8 said: "Nice Winks, good lad." That was similar to user @dirk-nipples who replied: "Winks is a good lad."

@JiriJarosik1StevieG0 said: "Let's hope we don't rush him back. Ideally, he'll be used sparingly for the rest of this season.
