He may have been linked with a potential takeover at Chelsea and Manchester United, but Sir Jim Ratcliffe insists he won't be making a bid for the Red Devils anytime soon.
Britain's richest man has been strongly linked with both clubs amid reports that he is exploring the possibility of taking over a side in the Premier League, with th 67-year-old worth a reported £20billion.
But he has explained why he is not going to be buying Manchester United after being critical of the situation that the Red Devils find themselves in at the moment.
He told The Times: "They are in quite a big pickle as a business.
"They haven't got the manager selection right, haven't bought well. They have been the dumb money, which you see with players like Fred.
"United have spent an immense amount since [Sir Alex] Ferguson left and been poor, to put it mildly. Shockingly poor, to be honest."
However, while he may not be investing in Manchester United anytime soon, the billionaire has also poured cold water over suggestions that he will be looking to take over another English club amid links with Chelsea in the past, having invested in French side Nice in August.
"We won't look elsewhere until we have had a good run here (at Nice). We need to find out how to be successful before you ever want to write a big cheque. It's quite difficult," he said.
"We have a different approach here [at Nice] to be moderately intelligent about it. Try to do it more grass roots, trying to locate young talent.
"Some clubs seem to have an ability to do that, Southampton, Lille. [Manchester] United have done it really poorly. They have lost the plot there somehow."
