Chelsea fans will love what Ruben Loftus-Cheek said about his future and a new contract

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has hinted that he is in the midst of new contract agreements with Chelsea after proving himself to be a key member of the first team.

It has been a slightly frustrating campaign for the 23-year-old who started the season as back-up to Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley, before suffering a re-occurrence of his back problems.

However, towards the end of the season he has been the starter in midfield with Jorginho and N'Golo Kante, netting nine goals in all competitions and five assists to go with it.

Rumours have started to circulate that the England international is going to sign a new deal with the Blues to keep him at the club long-term, with his current deal expiring  in the summer of 2021.

Every word Maurizio Sarri just said on Chelsea's transfer ban, Kante injury, Frankfurt & more

And Loftus-Cheek has admitted that he has no plans in leaving the Blues any time soon.

“I'm not sure [about a new deal]. I'm not sure," Loftus-Cheek said. "I let my agent deal with it. I'm not thinking about that right now.

"It's important for me to focus on the here and now, and I'm playing right now. It's looking good, so there's no reason why I should think about leaving Chelsea."

However, even though he isn't thinking about a new deal, he did joke that he would happily take the extra money.

"[There is] No reason for me to leave. If I get a pay rise, that'll be great," Loftus-Cheek joked.

"[This is] The most I've played in my career, the most goals I've got in a season, and that's due to playing more. I think I had some difficult times with injuries over the last couple of years, even this season getting injured a lot.

"But I've known how to deal with it now, mentally, and to stay as sharp as I can when I've been injured. When I've come back, I've hit the ground running. I'm 23 now. I shouldn't be seen as a young player any more. It's down to me to step up and play well."
