Chelsea fans will love what Jurgen Klopp did after Christian Pulisic scored vs Liverpool

Chelsea were forced to wait just that little bit longer before officially securing a top-four finish in the Premier League this season after being beaten 5-3 by newly-crowned champions Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

After finding themselves 3-0 down after just 43 minutes, thanks to goals from Naby Keita, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Georginio Wijnaldum, Chelsea gave themselves a fighting chance of getting back into the contest just before half time, pulling a goal back through Olivier Giroud.

But Liverpool, who lifted the Premier League trophy at the end of the night, rediscovered their three-goal advantage through Roberto Firmino before Tammy Abraham made it 4-2 on 61 minutes.

With just short of 30 minutes left to play and goals flying in from all directions, you could not rule Chelsea out from staging a comeback in an attempt to secure the one point they required to nail down a top-four finish.

And on 73 minutes the Blues reduced the deficit to just one goal, making it 4-3 through Christian Pulisic, who claimed his fourth Premier League goal in eight matches since last month's restart.

Whilst his goal against Manchester City last month will be remembered for his pace and ability to finish coolly under pressure, his strike at Anfield on Wednesday evening featured tremendous ability to stave off pressure from Alexander-Arnold, turn and fire an unstoppable effort past Alisson, all after bringing Abraham's cross down on the chest.

It was a spectacular finish and one that the former Borussia Dortmund star could be immensely proud of, as it was, without doubt, one of his best goals in Chelsea colours to date.

Whilst Pulisic sprinted back to the halfway line with his Blues teammates in an attempt to get the game moving again in their hunt for a leveller, the TV cameras picked up the reaction of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who was probably feeling slightly nervous that his team were on course to throw away a three-goal advantage.

The cameras spotted Klopp donning a wry smile, almost as though he was proud of what the winger had just done, despite it being against his own team.

Klopp, of course, has worked alongside Pulisic in the past, having spent time together at Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking to ESPN two years ago, Klopp said: "He's a fantastic player and it's deserved that people think highly of him in America - in Germany it's the same.

"If he wants to play in England one day or whatever and he, for sure, has the chance to do so. But in this moment he's in a really good club for his development. They know him already."
