David Luiz says Frank Lampard and his staff deserve the opportunity to manage Chelsea and that he is enjoying playing for the Blues legend.
Lampard has taken charge of two pre-season games since being appointed as the Blues' new head coach, with Chelsea winning for the first time under his leadership as they defeated St Patrick's Athletic 4-0 in Dublin yesterday (Saturday).
And speaking after the game, Luiz said it has been an enjoyable first few days working with his former team-mate, having played alongside the new Chelsea head coach during the Brazilian's first spell at Stamford Bridge.
“Good, good, bit tired. But that is normal when you come back from the holidays. But it was a great time here, a great time in Dublin. All the facilities works very well, so we are happy with this," Luiz said.
“It is about understanding what Lamps wants from us, and of course on our physical condition.
“It has been great. A great spirit and great energy, not just the boss, but all the staff, because they know this club for a long time and they deserve this opportunity.
“It is great to start in this way and it is up to us to understand as soon as possible the philosophy to win the games.
“I think to continue to do the same way, work a lot, close the gaps and understand what we have to do, and be in 100 per cent physical condition.”
