Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has backed Timo Werner to shine for Chelsea.
Leno has played alongside Werner for Germany, so has got a first-hand look at what the Gunners' London rivals are on the verge of signing from RB Leipzig.
Chelsea have beaten Liverpool to the striker and, whilst travel restrictions are preventing a medical from being completed at the moment, the transfer is expected to be confirmed sooner rather than later.
Leno, 28, feels his younger compatriot's qualities are readymade for the Premier League and says that Chelsea are the perfect club for him to hone is talents further.
"I get on very well with Timo," Leno told Sky Sports Germany. "He is very welcome in London.
"I would be happy for him, Chelsea is a great choice, no question about it.
"The Premier League is faster, more physical. But I think he's good for it. Timo is an extremely fast player.
"With his qualities and killer instinct, I'm afraid I have to say, he could be reinforcing Chelsea."
Werner has netted 31 goals in 42 appearances for Leipzig this season and has won 29 caps for his country.
Leno has been capped six times by Germany himself and says he cannot wait to resume competitive action following the coronavirus lockdown.
He said: "I'm looking forward and probably everybody in the world is looking forward that Premier League football is going back at least to something like normal.
"Everything will be new at the beginning with the match-day protocols. But it was the same with training and you get used to it.
"And we're all glad we can do what we love and play football again."
